Come to the Cross of Christ

How’s the condition of your heart?
Is it at peace or torn apart?
If what you believe
Is rooted in deceit,
It abandons you to the deepest dark.

Come to the Cross of Christ
Where love’s revealed through sacrifice.
What you’re feeling
He’ll be healing.
Forgiveness brings a dawn of light.

Is your future void of hope?
Are you at the end of your rope?
Enslaved by fear
Or drowning in tears
Believing you have no place to go.

Come to the Cross of Christ
Where love’s revealed through sacrifice.
What you’re feeling
He’ll be healing.
Forgiveness brings a dawn of light.

How long have you felt alone?
Has the pain turned you to stone?
Have all the lies
Dimmed your light?
Is there no place you call home?

Come to the Cross of Christ
Where love’s revealed through sacrifice.
What you’re feeling
He’ll be healing.
Forgiveness brings a dawn of light.

If you choose to believe,
He’ll provide for all your need.
His Word is true,
And He loves you
He’s ready to set you free.

Come to the Cross of Christ
Where love’s revealed through sacrifice.
What you’re feeling
He’ll be healing.
Forgiveness brings a dawn of light.

God’s Only Begotten Son

When Jesus first came on the scene
Some two thousand years ago.
They wondered where He came from.
That’s an answer we all need to know.

Some say He was just another baby
Born in the town of Bethlehem.
But Joseph wasn’t His real father.
He was born from a young virgin.

A human only comes from a human.
A dog only comes from a dog.
With Jesus as His only begotten
God only comes from God.

They could tell He was different.
He fed thousands with two loaves of bread.
He healed all the blind and the lame
And even resurrected the dead.

He lived a perfect sinless life
Denying all of Satan’s temptation.
To be our Kinsman Redeemer
He had to be our relation.

A human only comes from a human.
A dog only comes from a dog.
With Jesus as His only begotten
God only comes from God.

When He said He was the Messiah
Who came to seek and save the lost.
The people didn’t believe Him.
So they nailed Him to a wooden cross.

He was the spotless Lamb of God
Sacrificed for every believer’s sin.
He satisfied the Father’s wrath
So, in victory He resurrected Him.

A human only comes from a human.
A dog only comes from a dog.
With Jesus as His only begotten
God only comes from God.

He wants you to know He loves you.
He’s knocking on the door of your heart.
He wants to forgive all your sin
And give you a brand-new start.

Will you take His nail-pierced hand
And make that public confession?
That Jesus is your Lord and Savior
And God’s only begotten Son?

A human only comes from a human.
A dog only comes from a dog.
With Jesus as His only begotten
God only comes from God.

I Will Always Be Your Light

Are you feeling the darkness?
Do you dread the unknown?
You wonder if you’re the only one.
And ask, “Am I this alone?”

The world has become a scary place –
Beyond anything you can control.
Do you feel adrift at sea?
Onto nothing can you grab ahold.

I am here, My precious child
In the middle of your darkest night.
Be still and know that I am God
For I will always be your Light.

Much of what you see and feel
Is not all that is really there.
The world that you see and feel
Is shrouded in lies and fear.

There is a greater world
Where there is truth and peace.
I will lift you above the lies
If you come to faith in Me.

For I am here, My precious child
I will never leave your side.
Be still and know that I am God
For I will always be your Light.

There is a life of promise of hope
That holds you through the pain.
Forgiveness lightens the load
And cleanses bitterness’ stain.

Look upon that wooden cross
And you will find no greater love.
I have risen to hold your hand.
You will find My grace is enough.

Because I love you, My precious child
And I will never leave your side.
Be still and know that I am God
And I will always be your Light.

There will still be painful days,
But you will never be alone.
You may at times still feel lost
But I will always be your home.

For I am in complete control.
There is purpose in the pain.
The losses you experience
You will one day count as gain.

For I love you, My precious child
And it’s impossible for Me to lie.
Be still and know that I am God.
And I will always be your Light.

Breathe in the Breath of the Lord

Breathe in the Breath of the Lord.
He brings an everlasting peace.
He’s a shining light
Of hope in the night.
Breathe in the Breath of the Lord.

Breathe in the Breath of the Lord.
Leave your wounds at the foot of the cross.
For His nail pierced hands
Shows He understands.
Breathe in the breath of the Lord.

All the lies you’ve been told
That have left you hard and cold
He testifies to what is true
That His loving embrace
Is full of mercy and grace
He restores and makes all things new.

Breathe in the Breath of the Lord.
He loves the lonely and the lost.
You are never alone
For He is your home.
Breathe in the Breath of the Lord.

Breathe in the Breath of the Lord.
All His thoughts of you are good.
He’ll never leave your side
In the day or in the night.
Breathe in the Breath of the Lord.

If you choose to believe
He forgives and sets you free.
He gives gifts to serve and to love.
Praise the Father
And Praise the Son
And the Breath of the Lord above.

My Good Shepherd

In my heart and in my mind, I find myself wandering –
Tempted by what’s “better” and “new”.
But the grass isn’t greener at the end of the lies.
I’m lost in another foolish pursuit.

I don’t know where I am, and I can’t find my way back.
My steps have been covered in pain.
I’m as lost as a wandering sheep can be.
I’m in need of my Good Shepherd again.

So, I cry out His name, “Help me Jesus!”
Praying He’ll leave the ninety-nine.
By His mercy and His grace, He’ll hear my voice.
And come looking for me one more time.

He found me! He found me!
My Good Shepherd is true to His name.
Despite my foolish wandering
My Good Shepherd has found me once again.

I shall not want. He makes me lie down
In green pastures by the tranquil sea.
He restores my soul and refreshes my heart.
And provides for my every need.

He knows I’m His, and I know He’s mine.
He knows my wandering belief.
He saw I was lost and gone astray
My Good Shepherd gave His life for this sheep.

On that third day My Good Shepherd rose again
To be my living Savior and Lord.
One day I’ll meet Him face to face
And He’ll shepherd me forevermore

He found me! He found me!
My Good Shepherd is true to His name.
Despite my foolish wandering
My Good Shepherd has found me once

Christmas 2020 Thoughts

What will the future say
When looking in the rear-view mirror –
When it looks upon the events
That happened in this 2020 year?

The story that has dominated the news
And challenged our ways of life,
Showed us life is a privilege and a gift
And not a baseless deserved right.

The future will look upon our behaviors
And judge our wisdom and our sanity.
Will they see a genuine concern for others
Or rejection of care for the sake of vanity?

How will they look upon the carnage
Of the thousands of lives that were lost?
Will they see leadership coming together
Or seeking political power at any cost?

What will they think of the media?
Will they see fair and unbalanced reporting?
Or will they see its bias and agendas
With the truth a playground for distorting?

How will they look at our responses
To being more at home with our loved ones?
Will we have used the time to connect
Or selfishness causing familial destructions?

How deep will the future’s disgust be
At one of this country’s more shameful sins?
That we keep treating and judging each other
Solely by the color of our skin.

The truth is the future is not yet here
So, we have a choice to change the story.
We can seek to find a common ground
Instead of seeking our own self-glory.

Is there such a place we can all unite?
A place where we can be as one?
Shouldn’t that place be rooted in love?
Such a place is found in God’s only Son.

He created the heavens and earth
And He created you and me.
Despite our rejection of Him
He still wants us to believe.

He loves you more than you know –
Just look at Him hanging on a cross
Paying the price for your sin and mine –
Showing true love comes at a heavy cost.

There are no easy answers to today’s plight,
But can’t we make the best of the situation?
We can share the peace, mercy, and love
That comes from the Author of our creation.

This Christmas we celebrate His birth
A gift of new life in a humble manger.
His life can change the course of yours
If you will not see God as a stranger.

Where else will you find real hope
In this time that seemingly has no end?
You can turn to the God who loves you –
On Christmas His Son did He send.

We offer our best love and prayers to you
For good health, safety, peace, and cheer.
May we all find the God of true hope
And His blessings in the coming New Year.

Hallelujah to our God

You’re our King. You’re our Maker.
You’re our Lord. You’re our Savior.
You have given us hope for new life.
When You looked at every sin,
Yet, You chose not to condemn
And You pulled us from the dark into the Light.

Hallelujah, praise the Father!
Hallelujah, praise the Son!
Hallelujah, praise the Spirit!
Hallelujah to our God three in One!

You’re our bread. You’re our door.
Your heart is to restore.
You showed us You are the only way.
To a God full of grace
Who seeks to embrace
Every single human that He creates.

Hallelujah, praise the Father!
Hallelujah, praise the Son!
Hallelujah, praise the Spirit!
Hallelujah to our God three in One!

You’re our strength. You’re our peace.
You’re our truth over deceit.
You are our guide when we are lost.
You are faithful, and You are kind.
You give us sight when we are blind.
You showed true love comes through a wooden cross.

Hallelujah, praise the Father!
Hallelujah, praise the Son!
Hallelujah, praise the Spirit!
Hallelujah to our God three in One!

God help us to see what You see.
Fortify us when we don’t believe.
Make us into the image of Your Son.
For it is the least that we can do
To a God who is faithful and true
And saved us by the victory He won.

Hallelujah, praise the Father!
Hallelujah, praise the Son!
Hallelujah, praise the Spirit!
Hallelujah to our God three in One!

A Herald’s Cry

Once upon a time there was a spirit,
When people fought to be free.
They sacrificed and paid a heavy price
For the promise of what could be.

Wars were fought, lives were lost
For the sake of what was right.
Led by the faiths of brave men and women
Who believed in a Divine Light.

This land was far from perfect.
Injustices continued for far too long.
The darkness of human slavery
Is one of this nation’s saddest songs.

The enemy relentlessly attacked our hearts –
Be it on these shores or in other lands.
Yet, even in the most perilous of times,
We were able to unite and stand.

We did this because we still believed
In a God of mercy, grace, and love.
At some point, though, the blessings He gave
To many were simply not enough.

Freedom took on a new meaning
Biblical-based boundaries were mocked.
The value of righteousness waned
In lieu of the value of a stock.

Today it seems anything goes,
Unless it is to talk about the Holy One.
Our history has been re-written
To deny the presence of God’s only Son.

In the midst of this pandemic, though,
The very ones who denied the Truth.
Are wondering where God is in this?
If you were Him, what would you choose?

Thankfully, God is not like us.
He has been with us from the start.
Judgment is not His first choice
But to look for repentance of the heart.

So, what do you think, America?
How much more decay must you see?
The pursuit of wealth and fame
Have left behind those in need.

Can we once again be united
And join together hand in hand?
Will we ask God for His forgiveness
And for Him to heal our land?

If we let our flesh make our choice,
Unity is hardly plausible.
But if we humble ourselves as one,
With God, all things are possible.

If you are looking for answers in this
Or if your sense of control is lost,
Let us remember our founding fathers
Who knew freedom came at a cost.

They set aside their differences
And yielded to God’s guiding hand.
We will fall apart separately,
But there is hope if united we stand.

And proclaim the goodness of God –
Who came to seek and save the lost.
How can we ever doubt His love for us
When we see His Son on the cross?

But He is no longer on that cross.
He is alive and ready to lead.
That is His desire for all of us,
But it’s our choice to believe.

So what’s it going to be, America?
Will we return to our early days?
Will we come together as one?
And be the home of the free and the brave?

It will come at a personal cost
By setting our differences aside.
There is hope for all of us,
If we all choose to follow the Light.

An Easter Poem

As we look at our world today
Our lives have truly changed.
Freedoms we took for granted
Have been stolen by the strange.

This mysterious trial we can’t see
Feels like it’s growing by the hour.
Fear mongering is roaring loudly
Seeking hearts and minds to devour.

Will things never be the same?
How will this ever end?
Our circumstances make it tough
To offer a hope we can defend.

How much hope we have
Is measured against our fears.
If we think they are greater,
Then we are lost in our tears.

Is there a hope that is greater?
One that cannot be defeated?
What a difference that would make
To this time where it is so needed.

What greater fear can there be
Than the fear of death?
This illness’ primary target
Is to take away our breath.

Over two thousand years ago
Jesus breathed His last breath.
But three days later
He rose and conquered death.

He tells us He is perfect.
He tells us He is love.
Amidst our greatest trials,
He tells us His grace is enough.

His hope comes with His presence,
And His love casts out all fear.
This Easter message is for you,
And for those you love to hear.

While it may not seem like it now,
This trial will one day pass.
But God’s love is not a trial
For His love forever lasts.

So, hold onto this promised hope
And look beyond what you see.
Give thanks and praise to God
Who in Jesus won the victory!

The Meaning of Life

I’ve been wondering what this life is about?
And where I fit in? I can’t figure it out.
Do I have purpose?
Do I have value?
What I believe is overwhelmed with doubt.

‘Cause I can’t tell the truth from the lie.
Facts are twisted just to get me to buy.
Is that my purpose?
Is that my value?
What I’m hearing doesn’t seem right.

I was walking down the street one day.
I saw a sign that said, “Jesus is the way.
Do you want purpose?
Do you know you’re valued?
Come as you are and find amazing grace.”

Can this be true? Could this be real?
Could I learn to trust beyond what I feel?
Could I have purpose?
Could I have value?
I heard a voice say, “Let’s make a deal.”

“You give Me every worry and every pain.
You give Me all the scars and all the stains.
Do you see My hands?
Do you see My feet?
They’re proof you have everything to gain.”

“The years of darkness can give way to light.
The past can die, you can have new life.
You can have purpose.
You can have value.
I proved this on the cross by My sacrifice.”

“Well My child, do you want this deal?
If you believe in Me, you’ll know I’m real.
I’ll show your purpose.
I’ll show your value.
I’ll take the wounds and help you heal.”

In His Words, I had found real hope.
There is a God, and I now can know.
I have purpose.
I have value.
It’s His love for me to give and show.
