The Real Promise of Hope

There was a broken old man
Who found his head in his hands.
The pain and the grief
Made it hard to breathe.
He cried out, “Lord I don’t understand.”

“You see I’ve tried to live a good life.
I’ve worked morning, noon, and night.
But the sweat of my brow
Failed me somehow,
And there’s nothing left in me to fight.”

That still small voice began to speak,
“My son I know what you need.
Are you ready to start
To hand me your heart
And confess with your mouth you believe?”

“That I went to the cross for you –
For every sin you’ve done and will do.
The blood of the Lamb
From the nails in my hands
Testifies to what is true.”

“I am Jesus your Savior and Lord
The Way, the Truth, the Life, and the Door.
To forgiveness of sin
And a chance to begin
A new life that offers much more.”

In tears the man fell to his knees
And cried out “Yes I do believe!
I repent of my ways
And all the wasted days
Of living my life just for me.”

“Lord show me where I should go
And the lost who need to know
The truth of your grace
And your loving embrace
And the real promise of hope.”

Hope

Do you know there is hope for your life?
Do you know there is hope for light?
Even amidst all your darkness
There is hope with Jesus Christ.

For while we were still sinners
Christ died for you and me
We don’t need to clean up our act
We just need to believe

That He’s the Begotten of the Father
That He lived a sinless life
That He chose to go to the cross
And that He rose from the dead
And that He is alive!

So He can take all your suffering
And heal it with His blood
He wants you to trust Him
That His grace enough.

To get you through your darkness
To get you through the night
When you see the love of Jesus
And find there is abundant life

When you choose to believe the promise
That His love overcomes
All the pain and evil
Is no match for God’s Son.

So rejoice in the victory
And bring Him all your praise
Live the hope that’s in Him
And you’ll worship Him always.

If Only

Long before I knew anything of You
You knew everything about me.
From the moment of my first breath
To that step into eternity.

Every sin that I committed
Every sin I will conceive
All can be forgiven
If only I believe.

That You’re the Begotten of the Father
Sent to save the lost.
The price of my forgiveness
Is You dying on a cross.

But death couldn’t defeat You
When You rose again.
I have new life
And the promise of heaven.

Free from sin’s burden
And can walk with my Savior the Lord.
The concept of real hope
Jesus has restored.

This is the good news.
The truth to those deceived.
God’s love conquers all things
If only we’d believe.

That You’re the Begotten of the Father
Sent to save the lost
The price of our forgiveness
Is You dying on a cross.

But death couldn’t defeat You
When You rose again.
I have new life
And the promise of heaven.

If only I’d believe
If only we’d believe
If only you’d believe.

The Worship Song

I stand in awe of the Glorious One

And try to take in all that You’ve done

You’re the giver of life to all that breathes

You lifted up the mountains and filled the seas.

The sun, moon, and stars hung by Your hand

Light came forth at Your command.

The colors of the flowers tell the story

Of Your goodness and Your glory.

Chorus

With our hands held high

Or on our knees facedown

We worship the Lord

And surrender our crowns.

Hallelujah

And exalt His name

Jesus is King

And forever He reigns

Creator, Savior, Comforter, and friend.

The mercy You grant has no end.

The love You showed us at the cross

Is grace and hope for all the lost.

You saw through our sin a finished prize

Your shed blood was the asking price

You paid it with gladness in Your heart

To give who believe a brand new start.

Chorus

Exodus 14:14

This is a story of someone
You might know, relate to, or be
This is a story of
Someone named Ewen Me.

Ewen was quite ordinary
Unremarkable by sight
Yet he had hopes and dreams
That one day would take flight.

He worked an honest job
And treated others with respect
Sought to do good
Evil he would reject.

But with each passing day
The size of his dreams
Were subtlety reduced
From a river to a stream.

His tree-top hopes
Had been whittled down
By the saw teeth of life
Now splinters on the ground.

Suddenly through the years
Life wasn’t as planned
Disappointment was heavy
And hard to understand.

The weight of the world
Finally got to Ewen Me
The burden of his load
Made him drop to his knees.

Through his tears and his fears
He looked to the ceiling
And shouted , “God, if You’re there,
Do You know what I’m feeling?”

“I’m tired of fighting –
The struggles and all.
Can You hear my cries?
Will You answer my call?”

Ewen Me was broken
At the end of his will
Then he heard, “I will fight for you,
You need only be still.”

“What was that?” Ewen asked.
“There’s another choice?
Someone will fight for me?”
He began to rejoice.

Memories of Scripture flowed
Of God’s promise to care
To those He called His own
Their burdens He would bear.

“Someone will fight for me
I need only be still.”
Something so simple
But to surrender the will.

The hopes and dreams
Ewen Me had planned
Are now something better
When they’re in God’s hands.

I’m Here, I Am

I can see you’re at your end
All hope is lost
But there’s Someone to turn to.
Look upon the cross.

My name is Jesus
Son of God, Son of Man
I have always loved you.
And I’m here, I Am.

Come to me my precious child.
Come to the One who understands.
I will never forsake you,
For I’m here, I Am.

No need to be afraid.
Don’t believe the lies.
Trust in the One who made you –
The One Who gave His life.

But I’m alive as I promised.
Come take My hand,
And we’ll walk together.
Yes I’m here, I Am.

My name is Jesus –
Son of God, Son of Man.
I will always love you.
For I’m here, I Am.

Here am I

I am saved by grace
From my sin
There was nothing I could have done.
He was crucified
For me He died
The only begotten Son.

But He rose again
From the dead
The Spirit given to confirm
Now I am free
For I believe
Every promise of Your Word

Thank you, Lord.
I praise you, Lord.
Here am I
Here am I

Isaiah 52:7

How beautiful upon the mountains
Are the feet of him who brings good news,
To the ears and the hearts of the lost and lonely
Prisoners to the lies that shadow the Truth.

The audacity of hope for a glimpse of Light
Pours from the Word that is unable to cease
Healing the wounded and weighed down
By the One Who proclaims peace.

He is the only One who is qualified
Who brings glad tidings of good things,
To the meek and lowly in desperation.
For a good and compassionate King.

So sing and shout for joy
To the One Who proclaims salvation,
This liberating confession is extended to
Every tribe, tongue, and nation.

And when the chains of sin are loosed
His glory and forgiveness is all that remains
We rejoice and praise the One Who delivers
The One Who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!”

Memorial Poem

Thank you for coming, my friend
For taking time to remember my life
Please know you brought joy to me
In my darkness you were an instrument of light.

I have one final request of you –
That I pray you will open your heart.
Please listen to the words of comfort,
So the healing for you will start.

You see, I believe you have been called today
By your Creator who sees your pain
He has comforted me many a time
And for you I’m certain He will do the same.

As for me, I am now home
In the place I was originally made to live
To be with my Maker, Savior, and Friend
Whose life for me He did give.

Whatever pain I may have felt –
All the suffering that seemed to stay.
By His hands and His hands alone
All those tears have now been wiped away.

I am free now – rejoicing in His presence
Dancing with those who have gone before me
The faith I so desperately clung to
Is now the substance of what I couldn’t see.

Jesus loves you – He always has
He went to the cross to set you free.
He knows what you’re feeling right now
And He knows exactly what you need.

His arms are open, my friend
To relieve the burdens of your heart
If you call upon His name for help
You and He will never be apart.

That is the hope – that is the promise
And I beseech you as your friend
Receive Jesus as your Savior
And we will see each other again.

If you take comfort in Christ’s arms
He’ll turn your darkness into the sweetest tune.
And this day will no longer be a ‘goodbye’
But will become an “I’ll see you soon”.
