A God Who Can Be Known

Because of what You’ve done
And the love You’ve shown,
You revealed to us
A God Who can be known.

In a darkening world
That seeks to deceive
The notion of Divine truth
That is possible to believe.

A love that takes us as is
Even at our worst.
When You went to the cross,
You saved us from sin’s curse.

Freed us to move forward
New creations in Christ
To feel and know true hope
In forgiveness’ light.

You’re a God who seeks to save
Where darkness cannot abide;
Guides us through the storms
Never leaving our sides.

Help us to do the same
For those you bring to us.
Let them only see
The heart of Jesus.

And see what You’ve done
And the love You’ve shown;
So, they see what we see
A God Who can be known.
A God Who is our home.

Who Can Say?

Who can say He is the Creator –
The Maker of Heavens and Earth?
Who can offer the kind of water –
That makes us to never again thirst?

Who can say He is good?
For there is no one good but God.
Who else can say He loves us –
And then prove it on a cross?

Who else can make the promise,
“You are forgiven of all your sin?”
Who can look at all our mistakes –
And still want to call us His friend?

Only Jesus can make such claims
For He seeks to save the lost.
Only Jesus can be our Savior
For only He could pay the cost.

Who can say He is for us –
And will never leave our sides?
Who can say in a world of darkness –
That He is the light?

Who can say He is the King –
And then bow and wash our feet?
Who can say He is the judge –
But then offer grace and mercy?

Who can say He is our fortress –
And promise an everlasting peace?
Who can offer priceless hope –
Freely, by asking only to believe?

Only Jesus can make such claims
Which makes Him worthy of our praise.
Hallelujah to the God of love
And to the Lord of amazing grace!

One Step at a Time

Lord, you know me.
I like knowing where I’m going.
A path that I’ve chosen.
One that I am controlling.

I know that is not Your way.
You have greater things in mind.
With You leading the way
One step at a time.

I struggle with the unknown.
My pride rises masked as fear.
My love will cast all that out
If you choose to draw near

To Me whose thoughts are higher
And are crafted to refine.
My path for you must be traveled
One step at a time.

For where I’m taking you
Will reveal life changing lessons
That testify to My love
For you as My prized possession.

I know this won’t be easy.
But I’ll be with you at your side.
For the path to restoration
Is taken one step at a time.”

Lord, please forgive me
For when I step back or grumble.
Help me to let You keep the lead
Show me how to be humble.

“All My thoughts towards you
Are for good all the time.
The journey into grace
Is taken one step at a time.

You’ll question My leading
I take no joy in your pain.
What you count as loss now
Will one day be counted as gain.

My will is good and has purpose.
Of this truth you will one day find.
Countless blessings await you
But only revealed one step at a time.

So, be strong and of good courage
For I will never leave your side.
We’ll walk this path together –
Taking it one step at a time.”

Your Mercies

We praise You for Your new mercies
And give thanks for the ones before.
We look upon Your hands and feet
That move us to worship and adore.

A Good Shepherd who saw His flock
Lost in life’s deceits and lies.
But while we were still sinning,
You chose to be our sacrifice

What kind of love is this, dear Lord?
Such devotion to goodness is new
To a people wandering in foolish pride.
We see a testimony to what is true.

For our hearts have been wounded
By others or our own doing.
We turn our backs on the offenders,
Yet You focus on their renewing.

You look past the hardness and ashes
To what You originally created.
There was only one path to healing
At Your Cross, sin’s grip was abated.

Your forgiveness is the key
That opens redemption’s door.
But for there to be remission of sins,
Your precious blood must pour.

On a people who are unworthy
Of Your life-giving amazing grace.
Mold us into the image of You.
Make us long to see Your face.

And change our hearts and minds
To give us Your perspective.
Give us strength and courage
To boldly obey Your directives.

To love others as You loved us
To help break their sin’s sentence.
For it is only Your goodness
That leads us to repentance.

Forgive us when we stumble
And choose something other than You.
Pick us up from our vain folly
By Your mercies that are always new.

Help us to walk in deeper faith
And follow You into the unknown.
For we know the end of that path
Will lead us to our eternal home.

A home that no longer has worry.
Gone will be pain, suffering, and fear.
We’ll finally see you face to face,
And You will wipe away our tears.

Hallelujah to this blessed hope
Of an eternity lived with You
Wrapped in Your arms of love
We thank You for this truth.

Revelation 5

In a twinkling of an eye, we are transported
To God’s great and awesome throne.
No longer pilgrims in a strange land
But citizens in our promised home.

We have all come standing together
United through the blood of Christ.
Bathed in His completed healing
In awe of God’s glory and light.

A mighty angel calls out to the crowd,
“Who is worthy to take the scroll?”
A deafening silence falls upon heaven
Knowing the answer is nary a soul.

For the first time in all of eternity,
Tears are echoing in heaven’s halls.
Yet an elder offers his encouragement
“There is One worthy – One who gave His all.”

Our eyes become transfixed on the throne –
On the One who is both Lion and Lamb.
He takes the scroll from God the Father
And holds it in His nail-pierced hand.

The angels, living creatures, and elders
Fall to their knees with the prayers of the saints
That requested the defeat of all their enemies –
For which now there would be no more delay.

But before the Lamb would open a seal,
The congregation had a new song to sing,
“You alone are worthy to take the scroll,
Oh, our great and glorious King!”

“For you were slain for the sins of the world
And have redeemed us by Your blood.
Out of every tribe, tongue, and nation,
You have proven Your grace is enough.”

“You have made us kings and priests to our God,
And we shall reign with You on earth.
But not before the seven seals are opened
And the fulfillment of Your prophetic Word.”

Once again, we break out in song,
“Blessing, honor, glory, and power
Be to Him who sits on the throne
And to the Lamb for ever and ever.”

The twenty-four elders fell to their knees
And worshipped and cried, “Amen!”
Behold the Lamb of God as He opens
The seals as the Day of Judgment begins.

How Many Ways Can I Thank You?

You are my Creator.
You’re the one who gave me life.
You saw me in my darkness
And became my saving light.

You saw me in my wandering –
In all my sin that made me lost.
Yet you chose to redeem me
Through Your Son nailed to a cross.

How many ways can I thank You
For all that You’ve done for me?
It’s all too much to handle,
So, I fall to my knees.

Even after You saved me,
I’ve grieved You so many times.
Yet You have remained faithful
And have never left my side.

You’ve given me true hope
And a peace I don’t understand.
Your love is undeniable
When I see Your Son’s hands.

How many ways can I thank You
For all that You’ve done for me?
It’s all too much to handle,
So, I fall to my knees.

You’ve given my life purpose
And blessings I don’t deserve.
My selfishness slowly migrates
To a grateful desire to serve.

To show a world You are worthy.
You are to be praised and glorified.
Your love and Your forgiveness
Is the way, the truth, and the life.

How many ways can I thank You
For all that You’ve done for me?
It’s all too much to handle,
So, I fall to my knees.

I Am With You

I can’t hear You.
I can’t hear You.
The lion’s prowling.
The storms are howling.
My heart’s shouting,
But I can’t hear You.

I can’t hear You.
I can’t hear You.
Where’s my deliverance?
Where’s my difference?
My soul’s in shiverence.
‘Cause I can’t hear You.

I heard Someone say,
“Do not be afraid.
Was the command I gave
And the promise I made
That I am with you.
I won’t forsake you.”

But I can’t feel You.
I can’t feel You.
The enemy is at my door.
How am I to ignore
Pounding waves on my shore?
I can’t feel You.

Then I heard once again,
“For you My Son I did send.
You were worth the cost
To put Him on a cross.
Because I love you,
And I forgive you.”

“There’ll still be painful days,
And you’ll question My grace.
But you’ll never be alone.
For I’m your cornerstone.
And I am with you.
Because I love you.”

“Despite the nails in My hands
You’ll question my command.
To not be afraid,
And the promise that I made
That I am with you
Because I love you.”

“So, be still and know I am here,
For I’m casting out all fear.
If you will believe
And you will receive
That I am with you
Because I love you.”

“Can you hear Me?
Can you feel Me?
Recall the promises you heard
That are found in My holy Word.
Then you’ll be be reassured
That I am with you
Because I love you.”

I’m Still Here

From the moment I created you
In My love and light,
You were perfect and pure,
And precious in My sight.

From the day you were born
And through your early years,
I watched as a devoted Father
And saved every tear.

I saw what the world was doing –
Trying to push you out of My sight.
But there was no place you would go
That hid you from My light.

I’ve seen the times you’ve wandered
And questioned if I am near.
I’ve never left you My child
For I am still here.

The deceptions of this world
And the sins of those close to you
Have heaped on you a burden
That has shrouded what is true.

For that burden that you carry
And the damage that it has done
Can be handed over
To My only beloved Son.

But that cannot happen
Until you believe My holy Word
That promises My deliverance
From the sins you have incurred.

I know you’ve had your doubts
In the midst of your crippling fears.
But I’ve never forsaken you,
And I am still here.

Many of the promises made
From those you thought were true.
Have faded into disappointment
And pierced you through and through.

My child I know this feeling
And the pain that’s in your heart.
It has led you away from Me
And deeper into the dark.

But My light is still shining –
A beacon to bring you back to Me.
I am the way, the truth, and the life
If you are willing to believe.

So, take the hands of My Son
And He will wipe away your tears.
And your eyes will be opened
To know that I’m still here.

Back to the Cross

Lord, who am I to approach
Your holy and righteous throne?
With the things I say
And the thoughts I have
And a heart that is harder than stone.

By Your word I know what to do,
Yet I ignore the Spirit’s call.
I go my own way
Each night and each day.
Then I wonder why I fall.

Back to the cross I go
To find my Savior’s blood again.
Not just to forgive
But with power to live
Free from the shackles of sin.

Lord, why do you tarry with us
As we pursue our selfish needs?
Shunning the poor.
The hurting we ignore.
I don’t see much worthy to redeem.

My eyes have been dimmed by the dark
And confused by a world of deceit.
A world without You
Is a world without truth
With nothing left but lies to believe.

Back to the cross I go
Where I find the center of God’s heart.
A Judger of sin,
Yet a desire to forgive
And to restore what was once torn apart.

In His Word

In this world that’s so full of lies
How do you know what’s right?
Truth can be found
In His Word.

Is your heart gripped by fear?
Or too numb to shed a tear?
Peace can be found
In His Word.

In His Word, there’s new life.
In His Word, hope’s in sight.
God loves you
In His Word.

Does all your sin weigh you down?
Condemnation’s all around?
Forgiveness can be found
In His Word.

Are you enslaved by your pain?
Shackled by the toxic shame?
Healing can be found
In His Word.

In His Word, there’s new life.
In His Word, hope’s in sight.
God loves you
In His Word.

When you are alone and lost,
Look upon that bloody cross.
Jesus died for you
In His Word.

But when the stone was rolled away,
Jesus wasn’t in the grave.
He’s alive today
In His Word.

In His Word, there’s new life.
In His Word, hope’s in sight.
God loves you
In His Word.
