What I Need Now

I’m tired of the struggle.
I’m worn out from the fight.
With darkness closing in,
It’s hard to see the light.

I know that You’re there.
I still believe it’s true.
So, I have a favor to ask
Of You to do.

I see that You loved me
At Your cross of grace.
What I need right now
Is a Jesus embrace.

Of what You’ve allowed
Or given to me.
The load is too much.
I’m on my knees.

So, I turn to You
Before doubt begins,
And disbelief
Starts to settle in.

‘Cause I know You loved me
At Your cross of grace.
But What I need now
Is a Jesus embrace.

Should You tarry and
Respond to this request.
Then I’ll find the hope
And find true rest.

What faith I have left,
Someone’s trying to steal.
Be the bridge between
What I think and feel.

For I know You loved me
At Your cross of grace.
What I need right now
Is a Jesus embrace.

Ezra 8:22

I tremble at the remembrance
Of my years of unbelief.
I was deserving of Your wrath –
Unaware of all the grief

I caused you in my forsaking –
Building my prideful tower.
Yet it was like a pile of twigs
Crumbling under Your mighty power.

Your power is not just in wrath.
It also flexes itself in grace.
That led me to Your cross.
That glorious reconciling place.

Why, oh God, why me?
You know the hardness of my heart.
My drive to know you more
Is too often stuck in park.

Yet, You remain oh, so faithful.
Your nail-pierced hand is upon me.
Such is the good promise
To those who choose to seek Thee.

Thank you for Your patience,
And the assurances of Your Word.
They reveal an intimate love
That I’ve done nothing to deserve.

Spirit, please keep prodding
This tired heart to understand.
To keep seeking Your face
And feel the touch of Your hand,

That took the nails for me.
Oh, what forgiveness You provide.
The wrath that was meant for me
You took and is now satisfied.

Thank you for saving me, Jesus.
I’ll never be the same.
May my life forever be devoted
To glorifying Your name.

Emmaus

We were walking to Emmaus
On this Sunday.
Our teacher and friend
Was killed the other day.

He spoke words of wisdom
And kept us fully fed
With just two fish
And five loaves of bread.

We couldn’t stop thinking
How He lived His life.
Then another man
Came along our side.

We asked Him where He’s been,
And not heard of the loss
That they took our friend
And nailed Him to a cross.

We thought He was the one –
The Messiah at long last.
Who would redeem Israel
Prophesied in the past.

Now we’re hearing news
That He may be alive.
How is this possible?
Our unbelieving hearts cried.

Then this man said to us
“Oh, foolish ones, indeed,
With your hardened hearts
And slow to believe.”

Then He began to tell
All the prophets foretold.
Regarding the Messiah.
Yet our eyes did not behold.

He joined us for dinner
And when He broke the bread,
Our eyes were opened
Our Lord was not dead!

He suddenly disappeared.
Our hearts burned inside.
The news we heard is true.
Jesus is alive!

The Enemy

Even if my conduct
Is upright, without blame.
I still must be prepared
For I’m the target of one’s aim.

For lurking in the shadows
And prowling in the cover,
My soul has an enemy
Who hates me like no other.

He slips into my conscious
Through my eyes and ears.
And patiently examines
All my weakness and my fears.

He plants deadly half-truths
That are really lies and deceit.
Destruction is his goal,
Either public or discreet.

But my enemy has an enemy
Far more powerful than he.
Who seeks to be my Savior
If only I choose to believe.

His Word uproots the lies,
And sows truth with agape love.
Despite my disbelief,
His amazing grace is enough.

To become my rock and fortress,
And be my firm foundation.
To pay the price for all my sin
At the cross, for my salvation.

Eternal praise I will give Him.
In blindness, He made me see.
That Jesus is the truth
The Victor of my enemy.

Because He Loves You

Out in the darkness
A light still shines
For every believer
In Jesus Christ.

The lonely in despair
Who don’t know what to do.
He’s ready to save.
Because He loves you.

He’s our Good Shepherd –
Looking for the lost.
The price of redemption –
He’s paid the cost.

He knows the betrayal –
The hurt people can do.
He’s faithful forever
Because He loves you.

Call on His name
In your deepest grief.
He will deliver you
In your cry of belief.

Why are you waiting?
All His promises are true.
He won’t let you down.
Because He loves you.

The Encounter

What do You see, Lord
When You look at me, Lord?
A lifetime of piled up sin?
Failed attempts to change.
Adding to the guilt and shame.
Digging deeper the hole I am in.

I’m at the end of my effort’s rope.
Struggling to find any hope.
Why would anyone help me?
Now I find myself looking up
Wondering is there a God of love
In whom I could truly believe?

Then a man came up to me.
It looks like you’re in need
What can I do for you?
Abandoning my foolish pride.
To this man I chose to confide.
To be honest and to be true.

Then this man looked at me
With the eyes of eternity
And said, “I believe I can help.
When you just looked up
Wondering if there is a God of love
That God would be Myself.”

I fell down to my knees.
Seeing the holes in His hands and feet.
Could this man truly be the One?
I am Jesus Christ.
I am Your sacrifice
For every sin you’ve ever done.”

If you choose to believe
Who you’re seeing is really Me,
Forgiveness is knocking at your door.
You will be reconciled
To My Father as His child.
Free of your past and be restored.”

The tears flowed down my face
Overwhelmed by this love and grace
Can this mercy really be true?
Read this book in My hands
This has always been the plan
That I would die for you.”

As you can see I am alive.
Now in your heart I will reside
And guide you in a new life to live.
All I ask of you
Is out of your gratitude
Is to love others and to forgive.”

How can I turn You down?
I was lost but now am found.
I choose to believe all You say.
“Welcome to My kingdom, son
Your new life with Me has begun
And I’ll be with you all of your days.

This is the promise heard
From God’s holy Word –
Available to all who are in need.
The love you’ve been looking for
Is knocking at your heart’s door
Will you believe and receive?

The Answer You’re Seeking

Just open the door.
The alarm has been ringing.
God already knows.
There’s no point in hiding.

The answers you’re seeking
Aren’t in a pill or a glass.
They just briefly dull
The pains of the past.

Don’t blame your parents
For their sins handed to you.
Many of their sins
Were handed to them, too.

You can stop the madness.
You can break the chain.
The answer you’re seeking
Is in a step of faith

To believe in Jesus.
God’s only begotten Son.
All is forgiven
In His death and resurrection.

What more do you need
To believe God’s love is true?
The penalties of your sins
Jesus paid them all for you.

All that guilt and shame
Holding you lost in a grave.
Jesus didn’t come to condemn.
Jesus came to save.

And to open another door
For a new life to begin.
Free from the burdens
Of unforgiven sin.

What are you waiting for?
What more do you need?
Stay shackled in your sins?
Or be free indeed?

Believe in the name of Jesus.
God’s only begotten Son.
All is forgiven
In His death and resurrection.

To God

You are the Creator.
The Savior and the King.
Worthy of our worship,
And the praises that we sing.

Your glory breaks the darkness.
Your love is redemptive bent.
Your goodness and kindness
Moves us to repent,

And to thank you Holy Father
And Your only begotten Son
And Your Spirit our Helper
For all that You have done.

And for all that You are doing,
And the promises to come.
Your mercies are new
At the rising of the sun.

So, we bow in adoration
And joyfully proclaim
Our trust in Your holy Word
And salvation by Your grace.

Help us to know You more
As You righteously reign.
Let not Your Son’s blood
Be shed on us in vain.

Soften our hardened hearts.
Help us to forgive.
Just as You have to us
And selflessly give

Whatever we have to offer,
Whether great or small,
May the world see Jesus in us
And hear the Shepherd’s call.

To the hopeless hearts and minds –
To the lonely and the lost.
That God so loved each of them
That His Son paid the cost.

To forgive every sin
And to start a life anew.
Free of the painful past
And a future full of truth.

May we all come to know
The glory of our Lord.
One day soon we’ll all gather
To worship and adore.

And give thanks to our Creator –
Our Savior and our Friend.
Please accept this offering
Of the praises that we send.

His Hands

When was the last time
Someone held your hand?
Someone who loves you?
Someone who understands

What it is to be you –
The one nobody knows.
All the fears and doubts –
The ones you never show.

Nothing can be trusted.
You can’t be more alone.
No place for your heart
To feel safe and at home.

What would you say if I told you
There is Someone who cares?
His love is like no other.
When others leave, He is there.

His love is relentless.
He never leaves your side.
He knows you completely
For you are His design.

He will show you He’s different.
He is faithful and true
Take ahold of the hand from above
Is all you need to do.

For if you take that step
And choose to believe,
He will take hold of your hand.
He knows what you need.

Reconcilement with your Maker.
Forgiveness of your sins.
A release from your past.
A new life to begin.

One that’s filled with hope
In this life and the next.
Experiencing true love.
Experiencing true rest.

It won’t always be easy.
There will be tough times.
But you’ll never be alone.
He’ll never leave your side

So, take that step of faith.
What have you got to lose?
If you’re going to hold a hand,
Is there a better one to choose?

The holes in His hands
Testify to what is true.
He will do what it takes
To prove He loves you.

Just look at the cross.
His passion for you is known.
Where you find true love.
Where you find your home.

You Are

There’s so much anger; so much hatred;
So much confusion of what is true.
So much suffering and all the loneliness
With no answers of what to do.

You sent Your Son from Your holy throne
Amidst all our sin to make You known.
To show Your heart and Your faithfulness
As a God of love and forgiveness.

You are our Father.
You are our Savior.
You are our Helper.
You are our Friend.

You are our Creator.
You are our Redeemer.
You are our Healer.
Hallelujah, Amen!

We are hurting; drowning in deceit.
Leaves us wondering what to believe.
We think we’re found, but we’re really lost.
We want love but not the cost.

Then there’s Jesus, who paid the price
For our redemption; to be our light.
To show us the way through the storm
And guide us to our eternal home.

You are our Father.
You are our Savior.
You are our Helper.
You are our Friend.

You are our Creator.
You are our Redeemer.
You are our Healer.
Hallelujah, Amen!
